doin's .  As I recall that machine asked for it several times.

Didnt WE (OPD) kill a Coke machine in the lounge one day ? If I
could have as many accidental discharges NOW as we (OPD )did THEN, I'd be so proud.

Some time back at Alameda we had a Lieutenant
who, during a move and shoot course, fell over backwards and fired a round into the ceiling of our indoor range.  The next day there was a target taped to the ceiling of his   office .
No mercy.

Not too long before I started working boat patrol for El Dorado County , a deputy went into one of the toilet stalls in the locker room of the patrol station. He hung his gun belt on the door hook and somehow manage to get the trigger pulled.

Luckily, all that got a hole shot through it were the ceiling and roof. For months after that a silhouette target was plastered above the stall.

As usual, OPD is way ahead of the curve. We had the same thing happen
several decades ago when an on-duty officer (whose name I won't mention) managed an accidental discharge (no pun intended), resulting, as I recall, in a gsw to the gluteus maximus in a restroom at Nikko 's Restaurant at the foot of 29thAve. He recovered from the wound but his ego was scarred for life.

This is one story they'll be telling around the San Antonio Police Department for a long time. An off-duty officer was at a San Antonio auto auction house yesterday when nature called, a police spokesman said.

Officer Craig Clancy strolled to the appropriate facility and was lowering his trousers when his pistol fell from his waistband. When Clancy fumbled for the falling firearm, it went off, twice.

One of the bullets nicked a bit of floor tile into the leg of a man who was washing his hands nearby. That man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police internal affairs is investigating.
